Reading Festival 2016 Line-Up: The 8 Acts Not To Miss At This Year’s Event

Don't leave home without this list.

We can’t quite believe the last 12 months have disappeared so quickly, but it’s officially time to dust off the wellies and trek down to Richfield Avenue, for Reading Festival.

As has been the case in recent years, the line-up has got more and more eclectic with every announcement, leaving festival-goers with plenty to choose from.

We’ve scanned through everything on offer so if you haven’t quite planned things out yet, allow us to help.

Here are the eight acts not to miss at the 2016 event…

Skepta and co have finally got the calls they deserve this year, and will be performing on the festival’s mainstage. Their 2015 performance in the Radio 1 Dance Tent has been described as “era-defining” so if - like us… - you were silly enough to miss that, please don’t make the same mistake again.

On Sunday at 6.05pm, action on the mainstage will take a brief pause, as BBC Music Introducing celebrate the lives of the band and their manager Craig Tarry, who tragically died earlier this year.

Foals’ 2015 appearance at Reading was a secret NME Stage gig, 24 hours after the release of their fourth studio album ‘What Went Down’, but now, they’re headlining. Expect 100,000 people attempting to sing ‘Spanish Sahara’ and mosh pits aplenty.

The Madrid-born band are midway through a mammoth tour, which has included stop-offs at some of the biggest festivals on the continent.

Obviously, there will be Reading Festival stalwarts who claim the Billboard chart-topping rapper has no place at what was once a traditionally heavy rock festival, but we’re here to delighted to confirm that they’re all wrong. If he’s good enough to hit the number one spot on 31 separate iTunes charts, then he’s good enough for you.

The Madden brothers will be bringing hits old and new to the Lock Up Stage. Let’s just hope things go better than they did when they visited in 2003

If you need convincing on this one, please just check out his set from last week’s V Festival. Case and point, right there.

8. Secret Sets

Ok, so we obviously aren’t proving to be much help on this one, but keep your ears to the ground for the latest secret gig rumours over the weekend.

Reading has a reputation for surprise guests - previous years have seen the aforementioned Foals set and Jamie T popping up in the Festival Republic tent - so we’d be very surprised if there isn’t one for 2016.
