Bestival 2016 Line-Up: The 8 Acts Not To Miss At This Year’s Event

Don't leave home without printing this list.

Bestival is set to take place on the Isle Of Wight this weekend, and with just days to go, many festival-goers are busy carrying out vital, last-minute tasks. Y’know, like putting the finishing touches to fancy dress.

However, as much as we love sequins and sparkles, there are *slightly* more important issues at hand, such as planning what and who to see on the event’s many music, spoken word and theatre stages.

While we can’t help you buy those last-minute costumes, luckily we can assist with the line-up issue.

Here are the eight acts you definitely don’t want to miss at this year’s Bestival…

1. The Cure

Let’s start with the biggie here, shall we? Following their triumphant 2011 performance, Robert Smith and co. are back, ready for another mammoth star turn on the main stage. Expect plenty of hits and be prepared to be dancing for a while - their previous set clocked in at over three hours long.

2. Diplo

Fresh from headlining the main stage with Major Lazer, the super producer will DJ at the new-look Spaceport stage, in the early hours of Sunday morning (so Saturday night).

3. Hot Chip

The decision to add Thursday evening headliners at the Big Top is one of Bestival’s finest, and each year, the calibre of acts gets better and better. This year, the honour of opening proceedings falls to Hot Chip - who, to be fair, could probably delight on the mainstage. We recommend getting there early.

4. Aurora

Norwegian popstar Aurora first came to our attention last year, when she covered Oasis’s ‘Half The World Away’ for the 2015 John Lewis Christmas advert. Her debut album, ‘All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend’ was then met with critical acclaim when it arrived in March.

5. Skepta

Bestival marks the end of a truly spectacular summer for the grime star, who will perform shortly before Major Lazer take to the stage on Friday night.

6. Sink The Pink

London clubnight Sink The Pink are bringing disco legend Candi Staton to the Spaceport for their fleeting visit, which is being billed as “the party of the weekend”.

7. Mura Masa

The 18-year-old producer, real name Alex Crossan, began making music in 2014, and just a year later, revealed an hour-long mixtape on Radio 1 as part of a Diplo And Friends show.

8. Fatboy Slim

Norman Cook is something of a Bestival staple, so it only seems fair that he should be closing the Spaceport on the final night of the event. Is there a better way to end the last festival of the summer? No. No, there is not.
