Depression Sufferer Reveals Bedroom Transformation Helped Them Feel 'At Peace' Again

'I know it's not a big victory, but for me it means the world.'

A person with severe depression has spoken of their relief after they finally took the plunge and tidied their bedroom.

The anonymous individual shared two photographs of their bedroom transformation on Imgur with the caption: “Me 1 - Depression 0!”

The first photo shows a small room filled with so much rubbish that you can barely see the floor. The second shows a neat and tidy bedroom with a made bed and lots of floor space.

“I know it’s not a big victory, but for me it means the world to just be able to have my door open if people come over,” the Imgur user, known as ‘toofuckingbusyandviceversa’, wrote.

The person said their depression meant they had a “really hard time with cleaning and doing other kinds of household work”.

After months of living among piles of empty plastic bottles, papers strewn across the floor and clothes mounting up on the bed, they finally decided to make a change.

Now, after a bit of hard work, their bedroom is neat and tidy. And they feel far better for it.

“You can finally see that I have a floor,” they wrote. “Say hi to my teddy Nalle on the bed! I know it’s not a big victory, but for me it means the world to just be able to have my door open if people come over.

“I feel so at peace right now, just wanted to share with all of you.”

The incredible bedroom transformation has been viewed more than 300,000 times in less than 24 hours. It shows that even the smallest personal victory can have a dramatic impact.

Many have praised the Imgur user’s work. One person wrote: “Good job @OP, one step at a time, one small victory after another, is what will get you through this. I wish you the best.”

Another added: “As a person who suffers from major depression, this makes me happy. Don’t let it win!”
