London Fashion Week 2016: Ashish SS17 Brought Bollywood To Brewer Street

There was a real, live snake on the runway.

Ashish’s spring/summer 2017 London Fashion Week show is about to make your sequin dreams come true.

The Delhi-born designer drew on “Bollywood pop culture” for his new collection, teaming it with his much-documented love of sequins.

Model Neelam Gill opened the show, walking the runway under a sparkling ceiling of fairy lights, while another model took to the catwalk carrying a live snake.

Like last year, Ashish’s line was gender fluid. Because sequins are for everyone.

Legendary makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench created Club Kid-inspired beauty looks - described as “Bollywood Bloodbath”, in reference to James St James’ novel ‘Disco Bloodbath’.

Other models’ makeup was based on the Hindu goddess Kali.
