Charmian Carr Dead: ‘The Sound Of Music’ Star Dies, Aged 73

The actress's death came following complications from dementia, her family has stated.

‘The Sound Of Music’ actress Charmian Carr has died, at the age of 73.

The star played the eldest Von Trapp child Liesl, and the sad news of her death has been confirmed on her official website.

A statement posted on there explains that Charmian’s death came following a dementia diagnosis (via CNN).

The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organisation, whose founders created the Broadway musical ‘The Sound Of Music’, have also released a statement.

Charmian landed one other big TV role during career, starring in Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Evening Primrose’, and she also penned two books about her experiences working on ‘The Sound Of Music’.
