Kanye West fans were not happy when he pulled out of a New York gig halfway through his set, after learning wife Kim Kardashian had been robbed at gunpoint.
The reality star was held hostage in her Paris hotel room by two masked gunmen dressed as policemen, as they stole millions of dollars worth of jewellery.
Kanye was informed of the news while performing ‘Heartless’ at the Meadows Festival in Queens.
He abruptly halted the song and informed the crowd we would not be continuing with the rest of his scheduled set due to a “family emergency”.
This drew heavy boos from the crowd and a string of angry tweets from fans:
The festival promoters later released an official statement, which read: “Due to a family emergency, Kanye West was forced to end his performance towards the end of his set. We appreciate the great show he put on for fans to close out the inaugural Meadows Festival. Our thoughts are with West and his family.”
A spokesperson for Kim said she was “badly shaken” following the incident in the French capital.
“Kim Kardashian West was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening, by two armed masked men dressed as police officers,” they said. “She is badly shaken but physically unharmed.”
A Paris police official confirmed that there was a robbery and that an investigation was underway.
Kim has been in Paris attending Fashion Week with her mother Kris Jenner and her sister Kourtney, and was spotted at the Balenciaga and Givenchy shows earlier on Sunday.
