Haringey Attack Sees Woman's Hijab Pulled Off On Busy Street

She was left shocked and distressed but not injured.

A woman had her hijab pulled down in a racially motivated assault on a busy north London street.

The woman, in her twenties, was walking with a female friend on High Road, Haringey on 28 September.

As they crossed the road by the College of Haringey, Enfield & North East London, she was approached from behind by two men.

One then pulled down her hijab before both suspects made off in the direction of Pelham Road.

While the woman was not injured, she was left distressed and shocked by the incident.

The first suspect is described as a white man, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, with blond or ginger shaved hair and stubble. He was approximately 5ft 6inches tall and was wearing a burgundy coloured hooded top and carrying a Tesco bag in his right hand.

The second suspect is described as a man of Mediterranean appearance, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, clean shaven with spiky hair. He was wearing a grey hooded top.

Detective Constable Ben Cousin of Haringey Community Safety Unit said: “The was a shocking attack in broad daylight in the middle of a busy street. Racially and religiously motivated crimes will not be tolerated I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this attack to contact police. “
