'Black Mirror' Season 3: Charlie Brooker Shares Bleak Theory On Channel 4's 'Bake Off' Purchase

Charlie Brooker has employed his unique style to suggest Channel 4 chose not to fund ‘Black Mirror’ in favour of ‘The Great British Bake Off’.

Brooker told Newsnight his drama moved to streaming giant Netflix after it became clear C4 bosses couldn’t find the cash.

The comedian quipped: “They couldn’t make it work and needed money for that tent.

“They were saving for that big empty tent with gales of despair blowing through it.”

The 45-year-old also revealed to Newsnight that he stopped writing opinion columns in the Guardian after becoming tired of “too much yap in the world”.

Speaking to presenter Evan Davis, Brooker said: “It’s not a good mindset for a columnist to be in, saying ‘oh, what’s the point’.”
