The semi-naked and bound body of a British man was found outside Malaga airport on Friday morning.

Spanish police have launched an investigation and say he may have been choked to death and sexually assaulted.

The man, reportedly 51-year-old Steven Allford, was found by a security guard, tied to a bench between the airport’s train station and the main terminal building.

He was naked from the waist down and his trousers were around his ankles, reports The Sun.

Police are reviewing CCTV and looking into the possibility he missed a flight and was then attacked after bedding down on the bench for the night.

A Spanish source told The Sun: “The state in which the body was found had triggered an investigation and we are attempting to find out more about the circumstances.

“His trousers had been pulled down suggesting a sexual assault or rape may have been attempted after his hands were bound.”

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are in close contact with the Spanish authorities following the death of a man believed to be British in Malaga and are ready to provide assistance if needed.”
