Tributes have begun pouring in for Pete Burns, following the news of his death at the age of 57.
Since it was announced by his management team that the ‘You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)’ singer had died, big figures from the world of music have begun to pay their respects on social media.
Leading the tributes was Pete’s musical contemporary and friend Boy George, who admitted he was in disbelief over the news:
A number of his fellow musicians, as well as key figures from the LGBT+ community, have also been sharing their thoughts on the sad news.
In addition to his music career, Pete was introduced to a younger generation when he appeared on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in 2006.
Many of the show’s past housemates have also posted messages on Twitter since the news broke that he had died, as have former ‘CBB’ presenters Davina McCall and Dermot O’Leary, and current host Emma Willlis.
An official statement from the Dead Or Alive frontman’s management confirmed that he had died on Sunday (23 October) after suffering a cardiac arrest.
The statement read: “It is with great sadness that we have to break the news that our beloved Pete Burns… died suddenly yesterday of a massive cardiac arrest.
“All of his family and friends are devastated by the loss of our special star. He was a true visionary, a beautiful talented soul, and he will be missed by all who who loved and appreciated everything he was and all the wonderful memories he has left us with.”
“We have no more words, we will make a statement when we have had a chance to come to terms with our devastating loss.”
