Mary Berry has opened up about her future with the BBC, ahead of her final episode of โThe Great British Bake Offโ, which will air on Wednesday (26 October).
The series seven finale will be Maryโs last outing as a โBake Offโ judge, as she quit the show alongside presenters Mel and Sue last month, when it was announced that it had been bought by Channel 4.
But with โBake Offโ soon to be a part of her past, Mary has admitted sheโs already looking ahead, and explains sheโd be keen to work with Mel and Sue in the near future.
Speaking to Chris Evans on his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, she revealed: โWe havenโt actually all three got together, but we will do something because weโre good pals, and who knows what it would be?โ
When asked whether theyโll be teaming up for a new baking show, Mary offered: โYou never know, it could be gardening. Iโm a very keen gardener you know?โ
Way to throw us a curveball, Mary.
Since it emerged that Paul Hollywood would be the only member of the current โBake Offโ team sticking with the show when it makes the jump to Channel 4, rumours have been rife that the BBC was already planning a new project for Mary, which could see her reunite with Mel and Sue.
Reports even suggested that the BBC would be planning to air their new project before Channel 4โs โBake Offโ reboot, which will launch in 2017 with a celebrity special, in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.
During her Radio 2 interview, Mary also spoke about her decision to quit โBake Offโ in order to stay at the BBC, insisting: โI made it straight away for myself, having discussed it with my family and others.
โIโm very happy Iโve stayed with the BBC. Everything Iโve done has been with the BBC and I wanted to stay with them.โ
The seventh โBake Offโ winner will be crowned in Wednesdayโs finale, airing at 8pm on BBC One.
