'Strictly Come Dancing': Craig Revel Horwood Claims He 'Won't Be Upset' If Ed Balls Wins

Craig Revel Horwood has made a rather surprising ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ admission, admitting he wouldn’t mind if Ed Balls won the competition.

While Craig has been heavily critical of a number of the former Labour MP’s routines on the BBC ballroom show, the acid-tongued judge has said Ed is inspiring the nation to dance.

Speaking to The Mirror, Craig said: “I hope he doesn’t leave. He will probably get to the final and if he wins I wouldn’t be upset. I don’t care.”

He continued: “He is waving a flag for all the couch potatoes at home who sit on their bottoms doing nothing. He is promoting dance, so I can only see that as a good thing.

“Who would have thought that you could put Ed Balls into ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and he would be doing so well with the public?”

Despite Craig’s backing, Ed was the lowest scoring contestant on Saturday’s (19 November) ‘Strictly’, bagging just 23 points out of a possible 40 for his Jive to ‘Great Balls Of Fire’.

However, he still managed to make it through to next week, when Greg Rutherford was eliminated after a dance off with Claudia Fragapane.

The politician recently vowed not to quit the series, despite some calls for him to do so, much like John Sergeant did back in 2008.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: “Look, I won’t win. The show changes as it goes on. It becomes more of a focus on dancing quality. I can’t pass that test.”

He did have a message for his supporters, though, assuring them: “I won’t quit. ‘Strictly’ is a show where the judges have an important say but the people decide and spend their own money voting for you.

“If they’re supporting you it’s a bit disrespectful for me now to turn around and say: ‘I know better.’”

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ continues on Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
