Model Jazz Egger Re-Captions Instagram Photos To Reveal The 'Truth Behind The Shot'

'My agency told me I needed to lose weight to have a chance at LFW.'

A model has edited the captions on her Instagram shots to reveal the pressure felt by many women in the fashion and beauty industries.

Jazz Egger, who took part in Germany’s Next Top Model and is now based in London, said the only reason she is still on Instagram is because some casting directors consider how many followers a model has when deciding whether to hire them.

So she decided to subvert her posts by editing them to include the #truthbehindthisshot.

Now signed in the UK with Named Models, and a part-time music journalist, Austrian-born Egger is revealing the truth behind the pictures that made her look like she was having the time of her life.

Egger annotated the picture above, writing underneath her original caption, with a second more truthful line: “My agency told me on that day that my hips were way too wide and that I needed to lose weight in order to have a chance at London Fashion Week. I already was underweight so I decided to not lose any weight. I still got confirmed for LFW.”

“I had long black hair and my agency told me to dye my hair back to my natural colour otherwise they’d shave it off. I tried to dye it back but it turned out red. I lost my agency contract.”

“I wasn’t smiling enough so they asked another girl who wasn’t even booked for that job to do it. She became the new face of the brand instead of me.”

“I had to pay a 100 bucks for this shoot and we even had to shoot it twice because the first time we had a miserable fashion stylist. That was the first time in my entire life my agency made me pay for a shoot. But I learned that show pack shoots are never free and that every model has to pay for it so it’s normal.”

“I didn’t sleep much the night before because fashion week is pure madness. I didn’t eat/drink salt, sugar, fat and alcohol for months to prevent my skin from breaking out. Didn’t work. Makeup artists covered it up.”

”My skin is super edited and I even had unclear skin on that day.”

”My teeth were edited bc they’re usually uneven and I felt like it’s distracting.”

”This took me like 15 minutes to take and I was close to falling off my bed because I had to make my legs look slim.”
