This Russian Meteorite Is As Bright As The Sun, As It Turned Night Into Day

Sunglasses on.

If you have ever looked up into the night sky hoping to catch a glimpse of a shooting star but not had much luck, may we suggest a holiday to Siberia?

In northern Russia, recent meteors have been so bright, that people on the ground literally cannot miss them.

The residents of the Republic of Khakassia, in southwest Siberia, witnessed a huge fireball exploding across the night sky on Tuesday evening that was able to provide daylight (if only for a brief period).

Some people even managed to catch the event on camera, on car-mounted dash-cams, as they were heading home from work.

The incredible footage, posted to Imgur, shows the meteorite shooting across the sky and lighting up the entire landscape, before burning out and plunging it back in to darkness.

News broadcaster RT reported that eyewitnesses heard little to no blast sound on the ground.

Back in 2013, a ten ton meteor exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia, causing as many as 1,000 people to be injured.
