Girl, 8, Injured In Edinburgh Stabbing ‘Now In Stable Condition’

A 48-year-old woman has been arrested.

The girl was rushed to an Edinburgh hospital with serious injuries reported to be stab wounds in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after police were called to a five-bedroom Georgian mansion in the upmarket Stockbridge area.

A seriously injured 48-year-old woman at the same address was also taken to hospital and was reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Paul Grainger of Corstorphine CID said: “I want to take this opportunity to commend staff at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children for their tremendous medical efforts so far.

“Thankfully, the girl is now described as being in a stable condition and specialist detectives continue to support her family.

“A 48-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with this incident and we’re not looking for anyone else as part of our enquiries.

“Our thoughts remain with the young girl and her family, who have asked that their privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time.”
