Mum Opens Up About Breastfeeding Five-Year-Old Triplets: 'I Am Tired, But We Are Still Going'

A mum has spoken out about breastfeeding her five-year-old triplets, admitting she is “tired” and “touched out”.

Davina Wright, 47, who currently lives in Hong Kong with her husband Jason, shared her story on ‘The Milk Meg’ blog, explaining she’s ready for her triplets to wean.

“My older two kids both self-weaned around 13 to 14 months, so my goal with the trio was two years,” she wrote. “But here we are, still going.

“In all honesty I would be happy if they weaned now, I am tired, I am touched out, and I am pretty sure the last of the ‘baby weight’ won’t shift until they stop.”

Wright said she is “feeling done” with breastfeeding, but won’t stop because her kids love it so much.

“They are at times obsessed with ‘numnees’ and let me know,” she added. “I say no a lot.”

Wright said her biggest challenge is getting her children to respect boundaries and her body autonomy.

When her children ask for “boobie” and she doesn’t want to feed, she tries to stand her ground saying no.

However she said she won’t stop completely until her triplets want to, because they still tell her how happy it makes them.

In November 2016, another mum spoke about about her mission to “normalise” breastfeeding older children.

Sophie Rose, a mum from the UK who now lives in Thailand, breastfeeds her four-year-old son Shaye every day and shares her journey through daily videos.

“My mission is to continue my work in normalising breastfeeding, but also to normalise breastfeeding older kids,” she said in a YouTube video posted in October 2016.

“There’s still a lot of controversy and shock around breastfeeding an older child and I want to expose it until it becomes normal.”
