Later this month, 2K Games and 2K Marin will be releasing their highly anticipated new XCOM game The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. I recently visited the 2K Marin studios in San Francisco for a closer look at the game.

In the first of a series of articles, I will tell you about The Bureau: XCOM Declassified and show off some of the gameplay which I managed to sneak out.

The year is 1962, JFK is President and the Cold War has the nation gripped by fear - but a far more powerful and insidious enemy than communism is threatening America. Known only to a select few, a top-secret government unit called The Bureau begins investigating and concealing a series of mysterious attacks by an otherworldly enemy. As special agent William Carter, players call the shots, pull the trigger and lead their squad in a gripping third-person tactical shooter set within a high-stakes, covert war to protect humanity. The Bureau has been erasing the truth for decades. The time will come for the truth to be revealed.

Rather than describe the graphics and gameplay, I thought it better to show you, so here are three videos that show off the game from the very beginning.

In the first video we are introduced to Agent William Carter of the CIA who has to deliver a briefcase, only things don't go according to plan. This is actual gameplay footage from the very beginning of the game:

In the second video, we rejoin Agent Carter on his way to meeting with Director Faulke for the first time:

In the third and final video we meet up with Director Faulke and have to escape the base to complete the mission:

Come back soon for a number of interviews with the 2K Marin studio team detailing the game, the story and the amazing artwork.

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will be released on August 23rd for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. What do you think of the game? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
