Mr Niall Ferguson, the author of the "Forward", to the ill fitting damp squib called "dead aid proposal" by Dambisa Moyo, is on his sprawl, and this time and according to the New Statesman he has poorly penned for Newsweek attacking Obama's record as President. He did not disappoint at all, as he has lived up to regurgitating the usual nonsense that spoon from far right historians and economists.
Mr Ferguson writes:
In his inaugural address, Obama promised "not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth." He promised to "build the roads and bridges, the electric grids, and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together." He promised to "restore science to its rightful place and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost." And he promised to "transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age." Unfortunately the president's scorecard on every single one of those bold pledges is pitiful.
Consequently, and according to Fergusson, "Obama Gotta go", arguing that GOP's ticket path to prosperity is our only hope". What? Mr Fergusson who claims he wrote about the apotheosis of Barack Obama, less than four years ago, was a former adviser to John McCain. He also argued in his article that US is turning into a 50:50 economy where the later 50 collects social security benefits while the other works.
However, Ferguson fails to understand that Americans who collect social security today do it not because others are paying the taxes, but because they had previously paid their taxes. You cannot therefore consider today's recipients of social security as the other 50, who do not contribute to the system.
Furthermore it is also ironic that Mr Ferguson's alternative to Obama's failure is Romney/Ryan who supported everything that brought US on its knees under the Bush regime.
Moreover Mr Ferguson failed to notice a hostile GOP led and controlled congress filled with representatives whose sole aim of becoming politicians is to uproot Obama from the white house, and ensure he is a one term President. Fergusson should first ask himself - who rejected the stimulus bills that would have built the bridges and who ignored all Obama's efforts at bipartisanship on most major issues? Fergusson failed to highlight and/or understand how a GOP led house ensured a slow recovery, and repulsed all proposals that would have helped the US economy. President Obama has always proposed, but Congress disposed. The US Congress ignored and stood in the way of all of his positive agendas, and their allies in the state legislatures have put in place- the most oppressive voter ID laws, that disenfranchise blacks.
If Mr Fergusson was clever enough to conclude that Obama has failed, he should be incisive enough to decipher the cause of that failure. Obama has faced the most ridiculous political conspiracy against an American President -forced to confirm his religion and re-tender his birth certificate.
Mr Fergusson's article portrays him as a sore loser, from the moment his master McCain lost against Obama; because simply because Obama has failed to achieve ALL that he set out to achieve, does not and should not guarantee his replacement by champions of ancient history and macro economics headed by Romney and Ryan. It amounts to putting failed policies of the GOPs on steroids.
Obama has continued to -centimetre by centimetre, unravel hundreds of miles of GOP's mess, especially during the Bush administration. Obama inherited the most disastrous economic situation since the great depression. He has been in office for only four years, but it will take about twenty years to clean the GOP mess.
According to Bdon- Fergusson's article represents the worst piece of reporting I have had the misfortune to read in quite sometime", and equally disappointing is that it was published in a supposedly serious publication called Newsweek.
The article represents an extreme right distortion and misrepresentation of facts, and it is shocking how it passed Newsweek's editorial scrutiny. "It is a right wing manipulative commentary passing for truthful, informed, factual analysis". Mr Fergusson's article also represents a history that supposedly started in 2009, ignoring the recession of 2008, and other notable failures of the GOP.
Obama's regime saved Detroit, got the health insurance bill through despite hostility, saved the banks, successfully withdrew troops from Iraq, and got US image beginning to shine once more across the world.
Romney/Ryan will definitely lose like Niall Ferguson's McCain/Palin.
