Anthony Browne

Chief executive, British Bankers' Association

Anthony Browne is the chief executive of the BBA, the leading trade association for the UK banking and financial services sector. We speak for over 200 member banks from 60 countries on the full range of UK and international banking issues.

He has worked with Morgan Stanley on its external engagement on political and regulatory issues, been policy director for economic development for Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, and has run Policy Exchange, the UK’s largest free market think tank. He spent the first two decades of his career as a television and newspaper journalist, reporting widely on national television and radio.

Anthony has a degree in Mathematics from Cambridge University. He is a keen walker and lives in north London with his wife and two children.

Financial Education Should Be Part of the National Curriculum

Schools should equip children with intellectual learning and skills for life outside the school gates. One of the most important and practical skills throughout life - and one of the keys to a prosperous adulthood - is the ability to manage money competently.
