Baroness Miller

Liberal Democrat member of the House of Lords, campaigns on the environment and human rights

Baroness Sue Miller is a Liberal Democrat member of the House of Lords. Following a career in publishing and bookselling she was elected as a councillor in 1987 served at parish, district and county (1987-2005). South Somerset District Council won the first ever Council of the year under her leadership for its radical decentralisation. At Somerset County Council she concentrated on rural strategy and started Somerset Food Links to reconnect local producers with consumers.

She was nominated a Life Peer in 1998 becoming Party Spokesperson in the Lords on Agriculture and Rural Affairs from 1999 to 2007. And then Home Affairs Spokesman 2007-2010.

In the Lords she chairs three All Party groups Food and Health, Agroecology and Street Children and is an active member of the House where she campaigns on a range of issues. She is an international Co President of Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non Proliferation and Disarmament. When not in Westminster she works with her husband on their farm and vineyard.
