Bo Kyi is a former political prisoner from Burma. He was involved in the pro-democracy uprising in 1988, and was jailed for 7 years for his political activities. After release from jail he fled to Thailand to avoid further arrest, where he co-founded the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners. – Burma, which supports political prisoners and their families, and monitors the detention of political activists. Bo Kyi has become one of the highest profile exiled political activists from Burma, meeting Presidents and Prime Ministers, including President George Bush, to call for international action on Burma.
