Dr Damian Roland

Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer, Leicester Hospitals

Dr Damian Roland is an Research Fellow based at Leicester University and Leicester Hospitals. He specialises in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and is passionate about improving the care of ill and injured children
His research interests include evaluation of educational interventions and improving the recognition of illness in children. He has developed the Paediatric Observation Priority Score (POPS), now available as an app, and was part of the management team that delivered “Spotting the Sick Child”, a patient safety award winning educational website.
During his medical training he has been involved in ensuring that Junior Doctors voices can be heard. This work lead to his relationship with Helen Bevan, now of NHS IQ, and his involvement in NHS Change Day.
He is always grateful to his wife and young daughter for their patience and understanding!
