Dr Edward Wright

Virologist and Senior Lecturer in Medical Microbiology at the University of Westminster.

Dr Edward Wright is a virologist and Senior Lecturer in Medical Microbiology at the University of Westminster. He is an expert on highly pathogenic viruses including Ebola and rabies/lyssaviruses.

Dr Wright studied Virology at the University of Edinburgh, and later completed a PhD in Molecular Virology at the University of Cambridge, concentrating his research on factors that control herpesviruses gene expression. Following this, Dr Wright secured funding to undertake research on HIV in Uganda at the Medical Research Council/Uganda Virus Research Institute. Prior to his appointment at the University of Westminster Dr Wright was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at University College London. He is also a Joint Director at the Viral Pseudotype Unit (VPU), based in the central London labs.
