Dr Itay Lotem is a Postdoctoral Fellow in French Language and Culture at the University of Westminster. His research primarily focuses on the memory of colonialism in Britain and France: how state and society in these two countries have (or have not) come to terms with their colonial past. In this capacity, he examines the emergence of diverse, multi-ethnicities society in contemporary Europe, and especially the interactions between states and minority groups, community activism, the politics of immigration and the rise of the far-right.
