Gareth is directly accountable for the education programmes and recruitment of commercial and engineering apprentices. He also ensures all apprentices receive the correct training to national standards, qualifications and frameworks. He has overseen the training of 24 National Champions in Skills since 1992. He was also a World Skills Chief Expert from 1993 to 2007 representing the UK 8 times at international events, he as also over seen the MBDA Apprentices win 130 Regional and National Awards in the last 20 years.



Gareth manages the (Ofsted) accreditation for all Company programmes with the relevant professional institutions, as well as the management of external suppliers eg, colleges, universities, education institutions and work experience placements.



MBDA’s apprentice programme is the benchmark for the UK, which led to MBDA winning National Training Awards, Best Apprenticeship Scheme in both the North West and East of England as well as being an MX Award winner four times.



Gareth works with Schools in Bristol, Stevenage, Bolton and Wigan to ensure MBDA has links in the local community to encourage young people to join the industry. He works closely with education providers Setpoint, IMechE, Young Enterprise and Local Schools/Colleges who support MBDA’s young people programmes and for which MBDA won national awards for its work with Education.

Gareth has led 21 expeditions abroad for 16 to 20 year olds to Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, and Switzerland for periods of up to three weeks. Hobbies include mountain walking, skiing and photography.
