Homesick Mick

Brighton based singer-songwriter.

Homesick Mick is a Brighton based singer-songwriter, releasing his debut EP ‘The Mysterious Abduction and Return of Homesick Mick’ on 25th November.

As an upstanding community figure, Homesick Mick has previous experience as a social activist.
First, in 1993 in Tower Hamlets social services, Mick ran the Stepney Carers Survey which paved the way for the Carers Recognition and Services Act 1995 after his Council adopted the new policy.

This meant that domestic carers in the UK looking after a sick or disabled person at home now had a right to separate assessment from social services on their own needs and could get help as a result.
Also, in 2000, as a community manager in Islington Council, Mick co-founded the Gunners in Canonbury Partnership along with Housing Officer John Lane due to an atmosphere of rising crime in the area.

This was a partnership formed by Mick and John between the Council, the Police and Arsenal Football Club to run football training sessions for boys and girls by Arsenal coaches on local council estates.
Thanks to Mick and John's initiative, local crime rates in Islington have since been drastically reduced thanks to the power that Arsenal FC have as a brand in their local community.
