Change Coach & author of "Starting Again - How to rebuild your life when relationships change or end'
Jackie Mendoza is a life coach, author and speaker. Her mission is to help successful women in their 40s and 50s live the next stage of their lives to their full potential because (contrary to what others may have us believe) we still have so much to give.
It's hardly surprising that many of us in our late forties and fifties end up either dreading the years to come or railing against them by trying to pack as much in as possible (younger lover, ultra-marathons, sports car, botox, face lift, breast implants, you name it).
When any of my clients, friends or even I, for that matter, feel stuck in this way I always say it's time to revisit what's important to us; in other words, it's time to reconnect with our values and recalibrate what I call our Personal Positioning System or PPS.
How effective do you think you'll be in creating a better year for yourself if you're too focused on what's been going wrong in your life so far? Yes, you may come up with a list of New Year's resolutions because you're keen to avoid another year like the one just gone but how easy do you think it'll be to keep those resolutions?
Have you ever marvelled at how babies and young children exude pure trust in the world around them? It's worth remembering we were all like that once. But when I became curious about my own loss of trust story, I discovered I'd grown up with a lot of fear and negativity around me.
A life audit could literally save your life and sanity. It can be the difference between living life by default or living the rest of your life by design. Yes, that's right, you do have choices and you can design your life the way you want it to be. The first steps are being honest and aware of what's not working in your life right now and knowing how you'd prefer things to be.
