Ultramarathon runner, grandmother, helicopter pilot

In 2000, Jennifer Murray was the first woman to make a solo helicopter flight around the world, in 2000. In 2007, she successfully co-piloted the first helicopter to make a circumnavigation around the poles. She is the author of three books - Now Solo, Broken Journey and Polar First.

She now combines life as a 71 year old grandmother with a taste for running ultra marathons. On 20th November she will be on the startline for Racing The Planet Nepal, a 250km race across the Himalayas. If she finishes, she will set a record as the oldest woman to complete an ultra marathon.

She is running to raise funds for The Friends of The Scott Polar Research Institute.
