Co-Chair Aspen Global Leaders Council for Reproductive Health, Executive Secretary of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance

The Honorable Joy Phumaphi chairs the Aspen Global Leaders Council for Reproductive Health and is the Executive Secretary of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance. She entered public service in Botswana as a local government auditor and went on to serve in Parliament from 1994 to 2003. She then became minister of health, instituting a multi-sectoral plan to address HIV/AIDS. She later became the assistant director-general for the Family and Community Health Department at the World Health Organization and the vice president of the Human Development Network at the World Bank.
