Juliet Gellatley

Founder and Director of Viva! - Europe’s largest vegan charity.

Juliet Gellatley is a British animal rights activist and author. She is the founder and director of UK-based campaigning organisation Viva!, which she started in 1994 and is now the largest vegan charity in Europe. Viva! campaigns for a vegan world and exposes factory farming abuse by investigating and filming the every day lives of farmed animals to help people become more aware and make more informed decisions about their diet. The team also monitors the latest research from all over the world on the impact of diet on our health, the environment and developing world and argues for change with hard science.

Among other major initiatives, Juliet recently spearheaded a campaign against the exotic meats trade, which helped end the sale of kangaroo, ostrich and crocodile in UK supermarkets. With a degree in zoology and psychology, Juliet is also a qualified nutritional therapist who has written or co-written numerous respected books, guides and reports on animal welfare in Britain’s farms as well as on health and nutrition. Juliet has been integrally involved in hundreds of vegan and vegetarian shows and events in Britain and internationally and has developed a reputation for being an inspiring and entertaining speaker.
