Kate Delaney

Twenty-something aspiring writer. Lover of tea, animals and winter.

I drink a lot of tea. Strong, a little bit of milk, no sugar. Now the important stuff is out of the way, I'm a pretty normal twenty-something woman. I live with my boyfriend in Cardiff and I'm desperate to get a puppy. I did a degree in Politics and now I'm an aspiring writer & full-time social media nerd hoping to make a difference using words.

I write a regular mental health blog & monthly book reviews so check those out on my website: Little Green Teapot.

We Need To Teach Kids How To Look After Their Mental Health

We've never been taught to put our mental health first in the same way we've been taught to look after and listen to our bodies. This is simply ludicrous and irresponsible. As you're growing up, you're taught to try and reduce the risk of getting sick.

A Lesson On Feminism: Courtesy Of The US Election

This is when I truly understood intersectionality. It was naively racist of me to be outraged that the election result was down to sexism; it was far more down to racism. Speak Up: Where's the Diversity in the EU Referendum Debate?

There's more to the world than Facebook comments of course, but there's also so many voices not being heard too. And if you don't speak out, then you won't get listened too, continuing the cycle of decisions made by and for white men.

How to Watch Films as a Feminist

With great feminist knowledge, comes great responsibility. No longer will subliminal sexism go unnoticed in your favourite TV series, no longer can you re-watch childhood movies with ignorance at their underlying misogyny and no longer can you appreciate a cheeky rom-com without feeling like you've betrayed your own kind.

I Am Not the Exception: Everyday Sexism #WhenIWas Campaign

I never received any sex and relationship education and I know that had a significant effect on me and my childhood. It won't solve everything, but I am sure it would go a long way to helping this issue and more generally, result in happier and more confident adults.

Enough of the Stats, I'll Be Voting to Stay in the EU on Principle

This is an amazing chance for everyone, from either side of the debate, to have a say and send a strong message, to not only Europe but the whole world, about what the British people value the most. So I will be voting to remain in the European Union this June. I hope you use your principles to guide you and do the same.
