Award-winning writer, comedian and actress

Katy has appeared in numerous films, TV, radio and live shows, including ‘Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang’, ‘Svengali’, ‘Annually Retentive’, ‘Peep Show’, ‘Have I Got News For You’, ‘Nevermind the Buzzcocks’, ‘QI’ and ‘Victoria Wood’s Angina Monologues’. She is also a regular contributor to various magazines and newspapers, including a regular column in ‘Reveal’.

In 2008 she won the British Comedy Award for Best Female Newcomer for ‘Katy Brand’s Big Ass Show’, which ran for three series on ITV and ITV2. She toured a live version of her sketch show, ‘Katy Brand’s Big Ass Tour’ around the country in 2010. During her time as a gigging comedian, she performed with the ‘Ealing Live’ group in pubs and clubs in London and Edinburgh, also writing and appearing in other shows in Edinburgh, including her own solo show ‘Celebrities are Gods’ in 2005.

Katy is writing a novel about a woman called Brenda Monk who, frustrated with her life, decides she wants to try being a comedian. The finished book will be published when it receives enough pledges on the crowd-funded publishing website Unbound.co.uk. She is also currently writing a film in association with Emma Thompson and a sit-com with Baby Cow Productions and the BBC.
