Maggie’s Lead Psychologist and Research Lead and Centre Head of Maggie’s Dundee

Maggie's is the most effective environment for supporting the emotional wellbeing of ordinary people facing the practical, emotional and family demands of cancer. Work can be incredibly important to people with cancer. Research has told us it can give a sense of normality and purpose, rebuild self-esteem and provide a focus outside of cancer. That’s why Maggie’s are working with Unum, an insurer and workplace rehabilitation specialist, to explore the issues surrounding cancer in the workplace, give a voice to those who experience them and provide the right support to address them.

I worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS for 18 years before joining Maggie’s. I specialised in working with people juggling the demands of chronic physical health problems such as cancer, diabetes and cystic fibrosis.
