Brochure porn, I think they call it. When you drool for hours over photographs of exotic destinations. Thing is, when it comes to The Maldives, I've never seen the money shot. I've never seen a photograph that actually captures the true beauty of this breathtaking garland of magical islands...
Right on cue, just in time for the renowned festivities of Wenceslas Square, snow has fallen on the Golden City. As we stroll across Charles Bridge, carols echo down from the tower. White-tipped Baroque buildings and a twinkle of Christmas lights create the backdrop. Hot wine and chestnuts fill the hole.
A hub for A-listers and fashionistas, Robert DeNiro's ultra-cool downtown hotel and home from home, echoes a sumptuous private residence; 88 individually designed rooms and suites, cosy drawing rooms with roaring fires, Tibetan rugs and eclectic antiques, surround an enchanting Tuscan-style candle-lit courtyard.
As I walk through the doors I almost feel like I'm stepping in to a fabulous fifties film set. Bellboys efficiently buzzing to guests' whims, florists preening fresh fragrant lilies and bartenders shaking up Martinis. It's opulence at its best, the atmosphere is enthralling.
In the middle of the rolling Sussex countryside, tucked behind a picture postcard Tudor village, you'll find an enchanting Elizabethan house; it's Ockenden Manor and it's beautiful. Roaring log fires, cosy wood panelled bars and elegant drawing rooms with a wafting scent of fresh flowers.
When I was invited to review LaSource I was excited, very excited but also slightly worried. This sounds odd, I know. I realise how incredibly lucky I am, and believe me, I never take it for granted. But I'd been there before, a long time ago, I had memories, good ones, memories that I didn't want tarnished.
Mooch around galleries, stroll along the river, take in a show, and a pre-theatre dinner... You can't beat a UK city break. Combine culture, cuisine, sightseeing and shopping, throw in a spot of relaxation for a perfect city spa break.
At last night's Golden Globes we saw Hollywood glamour at its best, and guess what? There wasn't a fake strip lash, tattooed brow or hair extension in sight. Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman all chose to play down their classic coutures and enhance their natural beauty with nude make up, healthy skin and tousled shiny locks.
If, like me, you leave 'it' until the last minute you'll know how stressful it can be. Panic lists, crowds, panic buys, crowds, panic attacks...CROWDS. Come Christmas eve, whilst my smug, organised friends are relaxing by the tree sipping mulled wine, I'm the one running up and down Oxford Street, crying.
Peaceful rolling hills, blustery coastal walks, quaint village pubs with cosy log fires, fresh fish suppers and comforting cream teas. Devon and Cornwall offer it all, along with some of the best spa hotels in the UK.
Hair and make up trends sneak in to our bedrooms sometimes without us even realising. Look at a photo of yourself from the 80s or 90s, even the early noughties. See what I mean? So we're all effected by fashion, ie the "tops and bottoms".
So ladies... fancy staying on trend with this alluring new autumn look? It's actually really easy to achieve and can be adapted to all skin tones and ages. Here's how to do it - think Ingrid Bergman, Casablanca, 2012.
Spider season is in full swing. I've seen them hanging out in the garden. Gangs of them, with their little suitcases, ready to move in. Because autumn is the time of year spiders descend upon our homes. As the weather turns, so do the spiders. Into squatters.
I remember the first time it happened like it was yesterday. Marks and Sparks, Whiteleys, Bayswater. I was doing my weekly shop, and there it was, out of the blue, my first panic attack. Of course, I didn't know it was a panic attack at the time.
