Major Steph McKenzie, 34, is a serving Major in the British Army and a Chartered Engineer.

Attending Sandhurst at the age of 18, Steph became the first female to command the 73 Aviation Company, 7 Air Assault Battalion REME. Major McKenzie commands a team of 90 military engineering officers and technicians and 35 civilian technicians, and is responsible for maintaining the Army’s fleet of Apache helicopters. Major McKenzie has combined her career with raining a young family, even attending training exercises whilst 8 ½ months pregnant.

In 2012, Major McKenzie was nominated for the Women’s Engineering Society’s Karen Burt Memorial Award.
