Maser

Dublin artist based in the US

There is an Irish word Urlabhraì [uurlah bree] that means spokesperson: the one you send on ahead. Like our language creates, it has an image that the respected individual would bear a gift, a message, a feeling that said something different, 'This is what we have learned and we would like to share it'.

In this case for the renowned visual artist, Maser, it’s a statement of intent. It’s color-laden ideas that change spaces, lift a landscape, and induce thought where before there was a blank. Always believing that great works of art shake you, Maser has succeeded in shaking us. And he, born from the streets of Dublin, has something important to say about a new way of thinking: straightforward and honest. Irish art has a new voice. It’s been booming for a while.

Maser's works are like banners we stand beside; we have our photo taken with them because we want remembrance. His works are about all of us. With the movements to America and beyond, a Dubliner in the world, especially carrying the Irish mark, Maser embodies a culture and a voice that has seen better days but knows that the work represents an onwards and upwards.
