Max Gadney is Director at After the flood. Since starting After the flood in 2011, Max has helped clients like Google, UEFA, the UK Government and Redburn better communicate their data.

Prior to founding After the flood Max worked at the BBC for 12 years. As Head of Design and Audience Insight he led design on the the award-winning BBC News Online website, introducing several new audience measurement and product development methodologies.

During this time Max and his team won nine Webby Awards, four BAFTAs and the President’s Award from The Society for News Design for work on the 2005 UK General Election.

Max also held the role of Commissioning Editor, Digital Factual at the BBC during this period. He commissioned several digital products as part of BBC TV, including content for documentary series ‘White Season’ and BBC Dimensions, which is now part of the MoMA permanent collection.

Max is a regular public speaker on all things information, data and design. He runs the Design of Understanding conference in London and lives in Highbury with his family.
