Cinematographer and Stereographer

Melissa’s range of work as a cinematographer combined with her stereo experience helps her to have a unique understanding of the challenges faced when creating a successful stereo project. She can offer an insight into the technical challenges of a 3D project whilst also understanding the story or creative ideas to be conveyed.

Her career began as a clapper loader on “Lost in Space” and “The Avengers”. She was accepted to study cinematography at the National Film and Television School and she won a scholarship from Kodak for her 3 years of study. Her graduation film “Inferno” starring Sanjeev Bhaskar won best short film at the student Oscars and her animation “Lounge Act” was nominated for a B.A.F.TA.

Now established as a cinematographer for 10 years, she is one of Europe’s leading stereographers and behind some of the most innovative 3D projects to date. She has worked with some of the industry’s best talents: one of her most prestigious projects was working with Tim Burton on his feature “Corpse Bride”, as well as the BAFTA award-winning David Attenborough documentary ‘Flying Monsters’, and the production of the ground-breaking 3D live-concert film of Kylie Minogue’s lavish Aphrodite – Les Folies tour (due for DVD release in November).

Her films have been shown at festivals internationally. “Ten Minutes” staring Nick Moran played at over 21 film festivals. Her feature “The Other Possibility” premiered at Cork Film Festival, Ireland. As well as drama and animation Melissa shoots commercials for leading brands such as Microsoft, Audi and Panasonic, Remington and Orange. British actor Ewan McGregor directed and starred in a Pearl and Dean commercial shot by Melissa.
