In 2009, he became the first ever recipient of the “Outstanding Contribution to European Public Affairs” award at the European Public Affairs News awards.
Prior to joining Edelman in 2002, Michael was Chairman of Westminster Strategy, a leading London public affairs consultancy, and of Grayling Political Strategy, its Brussels sister operation. He founded Westminster Strategy in 1986. From 2000 to 2002 he was chairman of the Association of Professional Political Consultants, the self-regulatory body for the UK’s public affairs industry of which APCO is a member. Michael is a Deputy Chairman of the European Centre for Public Affairs, a Brussels based "best practice in public affairs" organisation, whose members are companies, trade associations and consultancies.
