Diary of a failed Eco-dad
Nic Compton is a freelance writer/photographer based in Brighton. He has two ‘big’ kids aged 23 and 20, and two ‘little’ kids aged 3 and 1, plus a 13-year-old step-daughter. He tries to lead a green lifestyle – he does lots of recycling and buys organic veggie boxes – but is often defeated by exhaustion, lack of funds, or a combination of the two. Deciding where to draw the line on his green principles occupies a good deal of his thinking time.
His latest publication is Titanic on Trial, an account of the sinking of the Titanic told through witness accounts, intercut to create a real-time narrative. He is editor of GreenLeaf, the quarterly publication of the Brighton & Hove Green Party – which recently formed the first Green-led council in the UK.
