The Essex TV hopeful turned platinum-selling artist and national treasure-in-waiting emerged from the studio in November 2014 with Never Been Better – a release brimming with radio-primed pop hooks and instantly-memorable anthems. Arriving in the album charts at Number One – the third of his career - it delivered several hit singles in Wrapped Up, Seasons, Beautiful To Me, and Up - his duet with US pop star, Demi Lovato.
In the first half of 2015, Murs embarked on the Never Been Better Tour, which included three nights at the Manchester Arena and four raucous parties at the O2 in London.
His final performance in the capital even featured an impromptu duet with Robbie Williams on hit single, Troublemaker. The excitement of playing to crowds of 15,000 has been captured on the DVD that accompanies the Never Been Better, Special Edition.
When it was announced that long-running X Factor presenter, Dermot O’Leary’ was leaving the show, Murs immediately emerged as a front-runner for the role. He was later announced at the show’s host, alongside Caroline Flack. By anchoring the global brand that first announced his talent as a contestant in 2009, Murs’ career had come full circle.
“I can’t sit still,” he says. “`we’ll have a new album, a single and then another album after that. I just want to keep getting better and better, and my biggest dream is to headline a stadium one day. I’ve got room to grow – I know I have. I’ve just got to keep on working hard; making great tunes and playing great shows. There’s going to be no holding back.”
