Paddy C. Courtney

Irish actor, comedian & screenwriter

Paddy Courtney is a writer, actor and stand up comic, a far cry from his previous life as an accountant. Paddy co-wrote and played the lead role in the six-part comedy drama ‘Paddywhackery’ for TG4. The show received three IFTA nominations, including ‘Best Original Script’. He also wrote and produced a short film for the Irish Film Board, entitled ‘Don’t leave me hanging’, dealing with the scourge of teenage suicide.
Paddy’s weekly column ‘Off the record’ appeared in the HQ magazine of the Evening Herald every Thursday for two years before the demise of the magazine in 2010. He has also been a contributor to the Irish Independent Newspaper.
Paddy continues to perform his stand up comedy nationally and internationally. So far this year, Paddy has performed in Dubai, Perth, Australia and this year marks his tenth appearance at the invite only Kilkenny Cat Laughs festival.

He currently has two television projects in development, the first is a comedy drama for the U.K. and the second is a light-hearted documentary for Irish television.

Paddy’s biggest achievement to date, according to himself, is conning the bookmaker Paddy Power into paying out on Paddy being the next host of the world’s longest running talk show, ‘The Late Late Show.’ He pulled off the stunt after an appearance on the show itself in April 2009. Details here:
