UNICEF Communication Specialist

I work as a Communication Specialist with UNICEF, as part of the Emergency Response Team based in New York. When at HQ, I help to develop the strategic positioning and narrative around UNICEF’s work in humanitarian crises, including the integration with longer-term development. On the road, I work with Regional and Country Office’s to develop advocacy and communications strategies and plans, as well as producing content for media and digital channels. This includes bringing attention to under-reported and protracted emergencies. Since 2006, I have lived and worked in countries such as Uganda, DR Congo, Indonesia, Laos, Jordan and many others in-between. This has included working as a communications professional, producing films for news and UN agencies, writing for IRIN and working on media projects around conflict resolution. My career started in broadcast media where I worked for 8-years based in London producing TV programming for BBC, Discovery Channel and Channel Five, among others. I have a BA in European Studies with German and a Masters in Global Society and Media Communication.
