Tom Gearing

Entrepreneur and Director of Cult Wines Ltd

Tom Gearing is a successful entrepreneur and Director of Cult Wines Ltd – a leading fine wine specialist in the UK. Tom also appeared on the 2012 series of BBC’s The Apprentice where he finished as runner-up to the title of being Lord Alan Sugar’s Apprentice.

Tom developed a keen interest in wine throughout his formative years, whilst accompanying Philip Gearing (his father and co-Director of Cult Wines) on many trips to the Cote d’Or. It was during these trips that Tom became enamoured with wine and engrossed with the history and values behind each variety. It was this historical appreciation of wine prices that lead Tom to be a firm believer in the investment merits of fine wine.

Having graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2009, Tom has lead Cult Wines through four years of exceptional year-on-year growth. With his enthusiasm and passion for fine wine Tom gained his WSET qualifications with distinction with plans to study up to diploma level.

Combining business with his passions, Tom is also co-founder of Apogee Presents, a music events company specialising in underground house where he envisages creating a lifestyle brand for fellow house music lovers.

Tom’s love for West Ham United saw a relationship develop between Cult Wines and The Bobby More Fund in partnership with Cancer Research UK. Being both corporate and personal supporters of such an exceptional cause, Tom is dedicated to continue working closely with the charity to help raise funds for research into bowel cancer.

Tom is a West Ham season ticket holder, enjoys dining at restaurants, has a keen eye for fashion and of course always has his entrepreneurial cap on, looking for any gaps in the market that need filling!
