Vick Bain is CEO of BASCA, the professional association for the UK's music creators and the home of the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards. She graduated from Henley Business School with her MBA, her dissertation focus being Employers’ Attitudes Towards Equality & Diversity in the UK Music Industry, a topic in which she continues to champion. Vick also sits on the UK Music board, the UK Music Research Group, the UK Music Rights Committee, UK Music’s Diversity Taskforce, the British Copyright Council, Joint Audio Media Education Services, the PRS Creator Voice program, is a trustee of the BASCA Trust, and acts as an advisor to BTEC on their music courses.
I don't talk often about my experiences of balancing a career in the music industry with being a parent - it is something I, alongside thousands of others, just get on and do. But my start to parenthood was perhaps tougher than many - my partner left me whilst I was pregnant and my twins were born two months premature.
