Waqar Ahmed MBE

Waqar is currently the Prevent Manager for Birmingham City Council a post he has held since April 2011. In his role Waqar is responsible for the coordination of Prevent activity in the city. Waqar has helped develop and coordinate a programme that is built around mainstreaming the agenda within a wider safeguarding context. Prior to this post Waqar was the regional Prevent Manager for the Government Office West Midlands since December 2006 where Waqar was responsible for coordinating the delivery of the Government’s strategy to prevent violent extremism across the West Midlands. One of the longest serving Prevent practitioners Waqar has worked through different iterations of the Prevent Programme giving him invaluable knowledge and expertise in the field.
