A Day In The Life Of A NICU Nurse

"Oh wow, what a lovely job cuddling babies all day", says a mum when I tell her that I am a NICU nurse. Well yes it is a great job. A privilege and a huge responsibility. But it's also an emotional roller coaster. Knowing the life of these delicate babies is often held in my hands.

PND: Admitting You Are Not As OK As You Make Out

We all know that being a parent is not an easy job, we all have good days and bad days. But what do you do when you start to feel like the bad days are outnumbering the good ones at 10:1? It's not an easy thing to admit that at the moment you are not enjoying being a parent. I know I have been there. Here is my first post about my battle with PND

Mummy Bloggers; A 21st Century Feminist Movement

I know that many people are fed up of hearing the same old rhetoric from Mummy Bloggers. Hearing people say that there is a limitation in the content we can write irritates me. Most of us realise that we are never going to be superstar bloggers. That's not why we do it.

How Can You Tell If Your Parenting Is Good Enough?

We get so carried away with making everything perfect all the time. Trying to reach that elusive parenting dream, thrust upon us by advertising. We forget that it's not the big gestures. It's that cuddle, that story, that time spent together. Think back to your childhood memories. Was the first thing you thought about a material thing or was it time you spent with your parents?

Equality For Women: Is It All About The Money?

Having our children was a joint decision. As was me reducing my hours at work to take on my new mothering role. However, I never really contemplated the effect going part-time would have on my career. It's not just my monthly income. Being part-time means I am often overlooked for extra opportunities, such as training or extending my role into management.

Slipping Through My Fingers All The Time; Preparing To Send Your Child To School

For the first time he will have a whole life away from me. New friends and new experiences that I won't be able to directly share with him. Of course it will be good for him. I know that, but my Mummy heart wants to scoop him up and hold him close. I want to be the one that knows his every mood or whimsical thought. Each night I spend a little longer with him, as time marches on into September.
