I have always been intrigued by the world of burlesque. The nocturnal displays of flesh and feathers to tantalise men (and women).
I just spent Easter with my Greek family in Piraeus. After all the doom and gloom in the media I expected the worst -- derelict shops, depressed faces and general chaos. I couldn't have been further from the truth.
The way we work today is decidedly bizarre. If aliens existed and they could see how we worked they would think us inhuman. Five days a week we all cram into one tight airless space, with bad lighting, all sitting in rows, glued to screens. Meetings are the worst -- hours of listening to people trying to outdrone themselves. Out of that creativity is meant to be born.
I have had some real friendship tests recently. In Paris you meet many expats who then go back home. Perhaps I am calling into my life these wandering minstrels to teach me to deal with change or I am attracted to foreign cultures. Either way it has been a learning curve.
