Geordie Shore is but the latest in a long line of televised regional case studies showing how crap the world is. As propagating cartoonish stereotypes for cynical commercial gain is worth mega bucks these days, small wonder MTV are milking their Newcastle cash cows for all they're worth by sending them to Magaluf.

Such is our symbiotic relationship with the gadgets that surround us that we're on the edge of empathy for the bad old days when people had to make plans in advance and stick to them. We may not have 'moon neighbourhoods' just yet but social networking has made it much easier to contact the people who live in the various ones we have on earth. Not only that, it's completely changed the way we view TV.

It's a subtlety pervasive and effective way of changing social views, precisely because of its familiarity and entertainment value. I asked some friends if they had any TV show that had shaped the way they think, the things they do or the way they do them. The responses were fascinating.
