Yes by McAlmont & Butler. What a song. It was on the list for my wedding disco and it's a great tune for the gym.
So I was pleased to see David McAlmont's name pop up on the bill for what sounds like an excellent event this weekend (29-31/7) in London, Vintage at Southbank Centre.
The singer is just one of the performers, artists, designers, dancers and more descending on the iconic block just south of the Thames for the three-day bash organised by Wayne and Geraldine Hemingway.
He'll be joined by Adam Ant, Sandie Shaw, model Daisy Lowe and West End star Jodie Prenger - who will turn the Royal Festival Hall and its environs into a melange of fashion shows, revues, stalls, discussions, DJ sets and demonstrations. All vintage-themed, of course.
I'm not much of a fashionista, but my wife loves everything vintage (including her wedding dress and 19th engagement ring, the latter of which I picked out on my own I'll have you know) and this kind of extravaganza is exactly the kind of thing the U.K. arts scene should be embracing.
London - and Britain - is never better than when its celebrating its own history and doing so in a proactive way. And there's something for everyone - showings of movies like School For Scoundrels, cycle tours, boat parties, The Chap Olympiad...
Celeb spots are all but guaranteed, so don't know about you, but I'm digging out my trilby. And not in an ironic way.
